Bollywood Queen and the former Miss World Aishwarya RaI will inaugurate the anti-polio drive on 27th September in Pakistan capital Islamabad.

Well-placed sources in the Ministry of Health of Pakistan Government have confirmed that the Queen of the Indian silver screen Aishwarya Rai has been formally invited to be part of the inaugural ceremonies.

Though, Aishwarya Rai has given consent yet the final schedule is to be confirmed, they said.

Aishwarya Rai would definitely play the central role in making the anti-polio drive effective and generating awareness in the Pakistani masses about the serious consequences about the disease.

Reciprocating Aishwarya Rai’s good gesture, Pakistan’s top singer Jawad Ahmad will be leading a similar drive in India. A number of programmes and shows will be staged to generate awareness about Polio it was further told.

Pakistan and India are the two countries in the world where the maximum number of polio cases have been reported.

In India as in Pakistan showbiz stars are actively participating in such awareness raising and funds generating drives.

Both the countries are working on a comprehensive plan to eradicate polio completely by Dec 2006.
